What Is a Parking Waiver? And How Can It Save You Money?

Imagine this: You park your motorcycle, walk into a restaurant, and when you come out, your parking fee is gone – paid by someone else. No coupons. No complicated forms. Just a tap on your phone.

That’s a parking waiver.

Lahv+ lets local businesses pay for part (or all) of your parking fee as a way to thank you for visiting them. You save money. They get more customers. Everyone wins.

How does a waiver work?

It’s simple, and it happens right inside the app.

1. You park

Start a parking session as usual – scan the lot’s QR or show your “My QR” to an attendant.

2. Request a waiver

While your session is active, tap “Request Free Parking” or “Waivers Available”. You’ll see a list of nearby businesses that offer waivers (like local restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets, or cinemas).

3. Choose a business

Tap the business you’re visiting (or planning to visit). The request is sent instantly.

4. Business approves (or declines)

If approved, the waiver is applied automatically. Your total charge drops – sometimes to zero.

5. You pay the rest

Pay the reduced amount with Khalti, cash, or any other method. That’s it.

Full waiver vs. partial waiver

Businesses can choose how generous they want to be.

  • Full waiver – They pay 100% of your parking fee. You pay nothing.
  • Partial waiver – They pay a percentage (e.g., 25% or 50%), and you pay the rest.

For example:

Your parking fee = Rs 100. A business offers a 25% partial waiver.

→ You pay Rs 75. The business covers Rs 25.

Why would a business pay for my parking?

Think of it as a smart marketing move.

When a business pays for your parking, they’re giving you a direct, tangible reason to choose them. It’s more effective than a generic ad. You save money. They get foot traffic. And they can track exactly how many customers used their waiver.

For you, it’s free savings.

Do I have to do anything special?

Just request the waiver before you check out. Once you’ve paid, the session ends and waivers can’t be applied.

Also, waivers aren’t guaranteed. Each business sets its own rules (e.g., max amount per waiver, time limits). If they decline, you simply pay the normal rate – no harm done.

Real example

You park at a local parking lot. Total charge = Rs 25.

You open Lahv+, tap “Request Free Parking”, and select a nearby coffee shop (which offers a 25% partial waiver up to Rs 500).

The coffee shop approves within a minute.

Your new total = Rs 18.75 (rounded to Rs 19). You just saved Rs 6 without doing anything extra.

Who can use waivers?

Any Lahv+ driver with an active parking session. You don’t need a special membership. Just the app.

Ready to save?

Next time you park, look for the “Request Free Parking” button. You might be surprised how often businesses are ready to help you pay less.
